Here are some photos of the Boston public library Ironwork.
The Library was designed by Mckim ,Mead and White in 1888
the ironwork was designed by Alexander Spitzer a Boston Blacksmith who also executed the ironwork at Massachusetts State House . The Iron work for the Library was contracted out to the Snead Co. in Louisville Ky. The Snead Company already had the contract to make the Castiron bookshelves and had a forge large enough to handle the large amount of iron to be produced for the Italianate building . if you are ever in Boston do yourself a favor and check this building it is a feast for the eyes.
